Latest News

As you may have heard on the news recently the Ministry of Justice has announced that from the 6th April 2011 all potential applicants for a Court Order in applications to the Court over children and finance issues will be required to have attended a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting.  The requirement is to be known as the Pre-Application Protocol for Mediation Information and Assessment pursuant to Practice Direction 3A of the new Family Proceedings Rules.

Once applications before the Court are issued the Court will wish to know at the first Hearing whether mediation has been considered by the parties.  In considerting the conduct of any party in such family proceedings, the Court will take into account any failure to comply with an attempt to consider mediation and and may refer the parties to a meeting with a mediator before the proceedings continue further"

Here at BFM we are pleased to report that accredited mediator Peppy Griffiths is qualified to carry out Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings and if so required and appropriate sign the completed Form FM1 that will be required to support any application to the Court over children and finance issues from the 6th April 2011
